Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

 

Job Summary

As a School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), you will work under the direction of a speech-language pathologist to offer speech services to students who require intervention. You will be responsible for supporting an SLP in providing prescribed therapies according to the parameters set forth in students’ individual education plans (IEP). You may also be asked to assist with speech evaluations, document student interventions, and progress, and relay your observations to a supervising SLP.

 

Your students will vary in age from grades K-12, to be determined by the school district. Depending on the individual needs of each student, you will work to help them overcome speech limitations in order to be successful in the classroom and develop essential communication skills. Prescribed therapies may include exercises to improve the development of oral motor skills, speech fluency, articulation, cognition, listening comprehension, and oral reading skills.

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

 

Experience

  • Prior SLPA experience working in a school setting is preferred

 

Licensure and Certifications

  • Current Speech-Language Pathology licensure within the state of practice

  • Current Speech-Language Pathology Assistants Certification (C-SLPA)

  • BLS certification


 

 

This pay range represents Covelo Group's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation offered will be dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
